UK Budget in 1996


This pie-chart shows the UK government spending in 1996.The total budget is £315 billion.
The biggest sector is social security which is the highest cost at £100 billion. The next sector goes to health and personal social services which cost £53 billion. The education comes the third important category that cost £38 billion. The three sectors defence, debt interest and other expenditure are nearly the same cost but there are slight differences between them: defence cost £22 billion, debt interest cost £25 billion and other expenditure cost £23 billion. Law and order cost the government £17 billion. Housing and environment cost them £15 billion. The second smallest sector is the industry, agriculture and employment that cost £13 billion.The smallest sector is the transport cost  £9 billion.
All in all ,the UK government spent a lot of money on three basic important things like social security  , health and education .
