Using mobile phone in class room

The mobile phones are important for everyone nowadays but if you use them during class it can take your attention. I am going to write an argument essay about using mobiles in class.

The first point I would like to make is that using mobile phones helps people to gain money from it; also they can chat with their friends. They can use their mobiles to receive calls from their family or if someone needs help. Using mobiles anywhere, in college, on the roads, at home and in the park is free and you can concentrate on your call. The second point is that mobile phones should be silent but it is respectful for teachers and students. Noise can affect people but they can switch off their mobile phones.

 There are several arguments against using mobile phones in the class. Firstly, there must be a reason to use the mobile in class in case of emergency, for example accident and fire. The mobile must not be with the student in the class because they can’t concentrate with the teacher. They can keep their mobile anywhere out of class for example in the car and locker room.

All in all, I think that mobile phones must be banned in the class room. The student must follow the teacher when he is teaching them. There must be locker room for the mobile so that the student keeps his mobile there.

Underground train systems operating in 5 cities

This table shows the information regarding the underground train systems operating 5 cities.

The first city that opened the underground train was London in 1863 and it is the longest rail train system, 394km.Paris and Tokyo nearly have the same passengers in 2010 but the rail lengths are different Paris is 199kms and Tokyo 155kms.Also the age is different. Paris opened in 1900 and Tokyo 27 years later .Kyoto and Boston are the shortest rail train systems, below 30kms; also they had the fewest passengers in 2010 50m and below. There are three cities that opened their underground train system in the 20^th century and there is one city opened in 21^st century London is the oldest city systems, opened in 19^th century. The second longest rail track is for Paris, 199kms.The passengers total in the five cities is 553.

All in all, we see that London is the oldest rail system and third in passengers in 2010 and the smallest rail system is in Kyoto, with the fewest passengers in 2010.

Smoking

Smoking nowadays has become not acceptable from the people but in the past the smoking was everywhere. I am going to write an argument easy about smoking.

The first point I would like to make is that smoking helps people to think and relax. Smoking is harmful although people can choose if they like to smoke or not; for example buying tobacco is a free choice. Smoking outside on the road or in the park is free; nobody can punish smokers here; for example governments don’t ban smoking there and people can use their money as they like. Many people like to smoke in their home or in the car so they can do what they like and they feel that the world is in their hands.

There are several arguments against the smoking. Firstly, there must be places for smoking away from nonsmoking people; for example at restaurants you can’t eat if someone is smoking. Secondly, governments must increase the price of the cigarettes, cigars and tobacco but still it is freedom to buy it or not. Thirdly, smoking can affect you because medical evidence shows that smoking is linked to lung cancer, heart disease and respiratory difficulties. Finally, smoking also affects your family indirectly because they breathe the smoke as the smoker does.

It is important to respect nonsmokers so there should be places that smokers can smoke without affecting people around them. But it is important to presence the freedom of people to smoke if they so choose and to spend their own money as they wish.

Population growth

This chart shows population growth in richer and poorer countries between 1750 and 2150.

In 1750 the world population was below 1 billion but in 1800 there was a slight increase in both developed and undeveloped countries. The growth in 2000 increased up to 6.1 billion but the increase was more dramatic in less developed countries than more developed countries. The population in more developed countries stayed the same from 2000 to 2010. Also they expect it to be the same from 2011 to 2150.Less developed countries saw a bigger increase from 2000 to 2010. The population growth is estimated to reach 11 billion in 2150. From 1950 to 2000 world population increased three times. The more developed countries had slight growth but were still below 1 billion.

All in all, I think less developed countries expect to be more than 10 billion population.

Three African Cities

The line graph gives information about the average monthly temperatures in three African cities - Mombasa, Cairo, and Cape Town. Each city has its own different climate, with very different characteristics.

The hottest place shown on the graph is Cairo. In July and August, average temperatures rise to over 80º Fahrenheit. However, Cairo also has the biggest variation in climate.Temperatures drop to as low as 55 degrees in Cairo’s winter, during January and February. This is equal to Cape Town’s lowest temperature in July. In fact Cairo and Cape Town are almost opposites in temperature. Cairo is hottest when Cape Town is coldest.

Cape Town does not have the range that Cairo has. Its maximum temperature is 70º F from November to February, after which it drops gradually to about 55 degrees in its winter. In contrast to Cairo or Cape Town,

Mombasa is warm all year round. Its temperature fluctuates very little, ranging from a low of 75 to a maximum of 83 in March.

In conclusion, location is very important in deciding climate. When it is winter in Cairo, it is summer in Cape Town, but Mombasa, being tropical, is warm all year round.

Reflection 3

Mr. Hedley teaches me how to write essays about problems and solutions. First you must write the introduction then the first part of the body must be the causes of the problem then next will be the solutions. After than you must choose one solution that is more viable in the conclusion. Also Mr. Hedley teaches me how to write the bar and table chart. The introduction must be short and the body must include everything in it. The conclusion should highlight the most striking feature (s).   

Hurricanes and Tornadoes

This table shows the differences between two very strong winds: hurricanes and tornadoes.

The minimum wind speed of hurricanes is 74 mph but of tornadoes is 40 mph. However the maximum wind speed for hurricanes is from 155-200 mph but for tornadoes is higher. Hurricanes’ classification scale is the Saffir-Simpsoncl-C5 where as the tornadoes scale is the Fujita F0 –F5.However the hurricanes’ duration is 1 week on average but the tornadoes mostly only last a few minutes. The average width for hurricanes is 300 miles but tornadoes start from 100-600 meters, with some up to 1.5km wide. The hurricanes can be predicted 2-3 days for a wide area; whereas tornadoes can’t be predicted far in advance. Tornadoes start usually over land but hurricanes start over warm oceans.

All in all, I think that the tornadoes are much more dangerous than hurricanes and the maximum wind also for the tornadoes is higher than for hurricanes.

Cities growth from 1950 to 2015

This bar graph shows the growth of population in different cities in the world from 1950-2015.

The three highest cities in population in 2015 are predicted to be Tokyo, Bombay and Lagos. They are above 20 millions. The lowest cities in the same year are New York, Cairo and London. In 1950 London’s population was 8 million and it will fall in 2015 to 7 million. Cairo in 1950 was below 5 million but in 2015 will increase to about 13million.New York was a steady rise in 1970, 2000, 2015.Shanghi has growth of 10 million from 1950-2015.Between 1950 and 2015 Mexico City increase from less than 5 million to 18 million. The smallest cities in population in 1950 were Lagos, Bombay, Sao Paolo, Mexico City, Cairo and Shanghai; they were below 4 million. The city of Tokyo will have the same population from 2000 to 2015.

All in all, I think the city of Lagos has increased more than 22 times; that means the largest increase in population.

Traffic in Abu Dhabi

Nowadays, traffic is the main problem for a lot of countries. The city of Abu Dhabi suffers from traffic congestion. I am going to write some causes and solutions for traffic congestion in Abu Dhabi.

Traffic in Abu Dhabi now is the main problem so the main reason for this problem is the growing population, because of men marrying more than one woman, and the number of cars per household. This means that traffic will increase more in the future if they don’t solve it. The next cause is drivers don’t follow the rules of driving; also they cause accidents and block the roads and streets. Another cause is lack of parking and that affects the traffic. An additional problem is construction projects and commercial concerns that are located on the Island of Abu Dhabi.

One solution is to improve the existing system or start to build skyline for now and the future. Another solution is education for drivers on the TV or by newspaper, so they can be aware of the rules, and stiffer tests to pass the driving test. The next solution is to stagger hours of colleges, schools and works. The last solution is to limit the number of cars per household and to relocate living areas out of Abu Dhabi so the people can came to work and college only.

All in all, I think the most viable is to relocate people. It will solve traffic problems and also a lot of other problems. I think the least viable is staggered hours because all people want to finish early.

Overweight in UAE

Nowadays people like fast food a lot and don’t check their health. They have everything they need from food, sport etc.

The UAE people have a problem with being overweight. The main reason for this problem is fast food. This means that food is mainly fat and it will increase the weight fast. The next problem is that people don’t do exercise at all. An additional problem is eating more than they need so they feel relaxed and don’t do any job. With the increased number of restaurants in the UAE,such as McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC and Dunkin’ Donuts, there is more chance to eat unhealthy food.

One solution is to have your meals at home or research for health food restaurants so that means that you reduce the fast food. The second solution is doing some exercise or choosing any sport that you like so it can help to reduce weight. Another solution is that you can eat what you need not overload,so that means the body can absorb what it needs from food. The next solution is to increase the number of health food restaurants or increase the price of the fast food meals so people can avoid the fast food. The final solution is that people must read a lot about avoiding fat and sugar to keep the health good and safe.

All in all, I think the best way to avoid being overweight is to do exercise at a gym or have a walk every day for one hour. Also you must control your food for the whole day so your weight will be at least the same.

The top three producers are Egypt, Iran and the UAE but Egypt is the only country that produces above 1 million tonnes. The second highest country is Iran at nearly 900,000 tonnes. The next country is the UAE at below 800,000 but the difference between them is slight. Oman is a fifth as much as Egypt but Oman is twice Libya. Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are more than 600,000. Algeria and Oman are above 200,000 tonnes.The least productive countries are Libya and Sudan which produced around 400,000 tonnes in total.

All in all, we can see that the highest production is from Egypt. There are six countries that produce more than 500,000.The smallest producer is Libya. The total tonnes of all these countries was around 6,400,000.

Valentine’s Day

The pie charts show the types of gifts that men and women in the USA buy for each other on Valentine’s Day.

The top three gifts are cards, flowers and candy but there are slight differences in the percentages; as we see women like to give men candy but men like to give cards more than the rest. The jewelry also is the same but women like jewelry more than men. The fifth sector is perfume and cologne with 4% for women and men 10%.The next sector is lingerie; 7% of men bought lingerie but only 4% of women bought for men. The smallest sector is spa/personal care; men bought 6% and women 1%.Other kinds of gifts were  from 25% of men but 17% of women.

All in all, the Valentine’s day is very important to women and men so they can celebrate as a private party.

UK Budget in 1996

This pie-chart shows the UK government spending in 1996.The total budget is £315 billion.

The biggest sector is social security which is the highest cost at £100 billion. The next sector goes to health and personal social services which cost £53 billion. The education comes the third important category that cost £38 billion. The three sectors defence, debt interest and other expenditure are nearly the same cost but there are slight differences between them: defence cost £22 billion, debt interest cost £25 billion and other expenditure cost £23 billion. Law and order cost the government £17 billion. Housing and environment cost them £15 billion. The second smallest sector is the industry, agriculture and employment that cost £13 billion.The smallest sector is the transport cost  £9 billion.

All in all ,the UK government spent a lot of money on three basic important things like social security  , health and education .
